Ironhorse Photos:

Series One
Sonntag, den 23. September, 2012

For me, going to the Carrie Furnace was an Ausnahmsweise, meaning something very out of the ordinary.  The conditions were prefect, with the sky a deep, clear blue and a crescent moon that showed up at the end of my shoot.

The light did go fast.  Extremely fast, but I didn't realize it until too late.  I spent most of my time shooting the structures, etc outdoors, not realizing how dark it was getting on the inside of the furnace, where many interesting scenes were.  Next trip.

I chose "Ironhorse" as the one word to describe the place.  Not sure why, but maybe because of the photos I saw before actually going there, and the fact that after all of the time that's past, the place is still standing.  And finally, by having the knowledge that "iron" was the main material being produced, I came up with the photos shown below.

I selected what I thought were my best five.  I also want to remind the reader about my fascination with HDR, so I posted both the Normal Exposure and the HDR photos.  The HDR shots were edited via Lightroom and "merge to HDR Photoshop", but only as a 32 bit and no toning.  All HDR shots were exposed at 2 stops under, normal and 2 stops over.  Hope they're ok.

The 1st pict is the normal shot, followed by the HDR conversion.
